El Rancho — Privacy Policy
Last updated September 3, 2026
El Rancho is a private app for the members of one extended family who share a lake cottage. It is not a public service. Only family members who have been added by a family administrator can sign in.
What the app keeps about you
- Your name and email address, entered by a family administrator when you are added.
- Sign-in records. You sign in with a link sent to your email. There are no passwords.
- What you do in the app: your week picks in the draft, holiday sign-ups, auction bids, notes about your week, and posts, comments and photos you share in the family feed.
- Dues and payment records entered by a family administrator. The app records money; it does not move money.
- A mailing name and address, only if you ask for a printed calendar to be mailed to you.
- A notification address for your phone (a "push token"), only if you allow notifications on a phone. It is used for nothing except sending you notifications.
Why
To run the family's cottage calendar, the annual week draft, holiday sign-ups, the family feed, and the family's dues and fund records, and to notify you about them by email or on your phone.
Who can see it
Only signed-in family members. Nothing in the app is public. Photos in the feed are stored privately and shown only to signed-in members.
The app shows no advertisements, uses no advertising or analytics trackers, and never sells or shares your information for anyone else's purposes.
Where it is stored and who helps run it
The app's data is stored by Supabase (database and photo storage, United States). Emails are sent through Resend. Phone notifications are delivered through Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. These companies process data only on the family's behalf so the app can work.
Everything travels over encrypted connections.
How long it is kept
For as long as you are a member. Records that belong to the family's shared history, such as which branch held which week in a given year, are kept as part of that history.
Delete your account and your data
You can ask at any time. Send an email from the address you signed in with to the family administrator at talktech325@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my El Rancho account".
Within 30 days the administrator will remove your sign-in and delete your personal information, including your email address, posts, comments and photos, mailing address and phone notification address. Records the family must keep for its own history, such as past week assignments, are kept without your name attached.
Children
The app is for adult family members added by an administrator. It is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the new version is posted at this address.
